Vemka's travels

Hello allemaal,

Het is heel leuk in Yass, we zitten hier op een heuse boerderij met bio koeien, superkippen (iedere dag twee emmers vol eieren) kuikens en veggies.
Vandaag hebben we cattle (koeien) geinsemineerd of hoe je dat mag noemen en we hebben een bio composthoop gemaakt. En let wel, dit is superorganisch en alles dus er gaan verschillende mineralen in en dan moet je op bepaalde plekken gaten maken en er preparaten indoen. Bio dynamisch dus. Dat betekent dat je met bepaalde kosmische krachten werkt, om die aan het werk te krijgen moet je bijvoorbeeld een stuk dunne darm van een koe, vullen met margrietjes en die dan een jaar laten hangen. Of een koeieschedel vullen met brandnetel of zoiets en die dan een jaar lang begraven houden in de grond, opgraven en dan de inhoud in je composthoop stoppen. Klinkt bizar, ik weet het, maar het is een hele studie en het werkt volgens Jeremy en een heleboel anderen.
Dit weekend ga ik naar Norvan toe in Canberra, dan kom ik maandag nog terug in Yass en dinsdag ga ik dan met Sonja en Eric (zus en zwager) mee richting onze oude mopperkont vriendin (80+) Bronnie. Dat is pas een leuke Ozzie. Hoewel Kate en Jeremy ook errug leuk en lief zijn. Jammer dat ik de foto's hier niet kan uploaden. Is mooi hier!
Ik kan het niet te lang maken, ik hoop dat jullie niet al te veel last hebben van de herfst, ik stuur wel wat zomer op ok? Plenty hier.

Hi there,

Finally, I left Sydney, on a motorbike. :) It was great. Norvan came to pick me up in Sutherland (Sydney) and I hopped on and we took the scenic route to Yass. All the way through Kangaroo Valley and the road got pretty steep at times.
Norvan and I had a great day, we had chips and (he had) a burger in a really nice tiny little town. We arrived at my WWOOF-ing address in the evening.
The WWOOF-ing farm is really nice, the hosts are Jeremy and Kate Wilson, the live on a few acres of farming land. They've got about a hundred cows and a big vegetable garden. And lets not forget the chucks. I spend all day packing eggs for an organic market in Canberra. They had to be all the right weight so it turned out to be pretty demanding. But it was cool and normally you work four hours a day and have the rest of the day off. But Jeremy and Kate like to just work two full days and then give the WWOOFers two full days off. Sounds good to me.
And I have my own room which is great after staring at the ceiling in my Sydney Hostel while my roommates were doing all sorts of stuff at 2 am.
We just caught a Huntsman in this very room. A Huntsman, I'm sure Ronald is gonna find some more info about, is a pretty big spider. Harmless but scary when you're not very good at identifying all sorts of spiders yet...
Tomorrow, we're going to drop the eggs off in Canberra and we are free to spend the day anyway we like. We= is a Korean guy called Suang ....
