Vemka's travels

Hi!
I found my new travelmate; a Mitsubishi Delica Star Wagon; born in 1988. We went to the auction this morning, it was all so exciting... I wasnt sure if there were any other bidders, and 'my' car was lot 25, so I had time to have a look around and see how it's done.
I was cool as... didnt show any emotion untill he was as cheap as chips; I bought him for 1400 nzd and know that the only reason for him to be that cheap was that I was in fact the only bidder and all the others had pretty much gone home. I had him checked yesterday and he only had some minor things.
Its a 8 seater, so tell me if you need a lift! And the seats fold down so I'm in the middle of designing a bed for him, well for me actually.
But no, I won't go sleeping in parking lots by myself, I just thought that it would be good to have the bed when I go fruitpicking up north, so then I can just camp out on the farm and save all the money I'm making. People usually camp out there.

How are you? Hope you're not too cold ;) I've made it to Eddy & Jules' place in Whangarei. They've got the most beautiful property here in the mountains and are living here with their kids; Moana (not 3 yet) and Rimu (10 months). It's great to see Eddy and Jules again (it's been years...) and meeting the kids is fun!
I havent been well, all the time, had some kind of weird bug, that luckily only lasted one day. That stuff must be going around in Holland now too, wintertime is allways high bug-risk, isnt it. I know that Ronald has caught one, poor bugger, are they looking after you? Please do...
Well, I havent been up to too many exciting things, just playing with the kids, working in the sleepout (I'm helping out to get it ready before Eddy's mum and sister come over) and today we went to the beach. That was beautiful, the sea is turquoise here, pretty special. Nearly like the crater lakes on the Tongariro Crossing. I will, once again try to send my pictures to Ro, I know you must be getting tired of my failing... I am too. But never stop trying right?
My plans are; I'm going wwoofing with a dutch potter (pottenbakker) starting this weekend. She specialises in Raku, that's a special kind of pottery. I think that should be interesting. After that, I would really like to go and look for a paid job. I know there are many orchards (boomgaarden) around here with all kinds of fruits, so I can probably find something here.
Decisions, decisions, not at all easy when you're by yourself and when there's no-one around to blame bad decisions on...

Buying a car, gut feeling YES, but do I want to risk 3000 nzd when I know I dont necessarily have a job to go back to. Well, things like that. I want to work, but where could I have the best of both worlds, earn money and still enjoy all the beautiful things that nz has to offer... Oh well, so many things, I wont bug you guys with that.

Well, I have found this site were apparently you can find real backpackers (dishwashing...? aaaahhhhh) jobs. Lets give it a go.

Voor de mensen die liever nederlands lezen, inmiddels ben ik bij Eddy en Jules en hun twee kindjes Moana en Rimu. Ik ben hier wat aan het bijkomen van alle mooie belevenissen en al het afscheid nemen. Ben nog even ziek geweest ook maar nu weer helemaal beter. Ik hoop dat jullie het niet al te koud hebben daar!
Ik ga vanaf hier naar een pottenbakkerij, ietsjes verderop. Daarna toch maar een betaalde baan zoeken want ookal geef ik niet veel uit, er komt geen cent binnen dus dat komt me duur te staan.
Ik ga nu even op het net naar een baantje zoeken dus volgende keer draai ik het wel om, schrijf ik eerst in het nederlands want ik heb nu niet zoveel energie meer. Dag allemaal, poging tot foto's volgt...
